A below average movie..
The film what was promoted as a bike journey kind of movie was nothing but same old love-Villain-Fight-Ends well kind of movie. The loosely written screen play starts from love genre to bike journey to action genre. But miserably fails in all three. A young man falls in with a girl, starts a long trip in bike with her only to end up in an accident and what follows the accident is rest of the film. Even though the story line have lot of possibilities for great action sequences, the director gives us just a few clichéd scenes which were far from satisfactory. SImbu comes in all sizes, thanks to the long years of shooting. Unlike Gautham's other heroines Manjima is an average pick. AR Rahman is the prime reason for watching the movie. Songs are great. Picturised well. It's time to think Gautham Vasudev Menon. Your magic is waning.
Acham Enbathu Madamaiyada -Is confusion!
After a long wait ,I was so excited to watch this film in theater. I was so confident GVM would give a real Bang. But all was shattered. First AR.Rahman...This man is a Life saver for any producer or director. He has saved 70% of the movie. Camera and the complete technicians have done their role perfectly. The only problem was the script and execution which obviously the Director plays. When all the movie lovers hated Nadunisi Naigal ...I enjoyed the movie's execution and so many new experiments which was attempted by GVM. I do not want to pull out the reasons why I felt so bad about the movie because each individual has their own interpretation of what the movie is all about. Please do not confuse between reality and fantasy. For a simple example when Manjima and STR sister say that they are gonna start a Duo Script Writer company...I was really shocked and thrilled to hear that...This one thing could have been the back bone of the story ...but GVM did not build it. Never mind...I was disappointed.
Romantic cum Disappointing cum Funny aka thriller
Expected a better from GVM after a long time since "Ennai Arindhal" . Seriously these days directors are taking viewers for a ride. First kindly forget math and IPC rules and at times physics too, while watching the movie. How many bullets can a gun hold at a time? Seems Simbu fires bullet as and when he wish from the gun. Come on man Seriously??? Absolutely Illogical , a girl who doesn't even know his name, willing to come a road trip, come on. Simbu shoots n number of people without any issue and yet escapes and neat. Indian police are not top notch I agree, but still, they aren't that stupid man. BIGGEST JOKE OF THE MOVIE, SIMBU CLEARING UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAM, AND BECOMING IPS. LMAO. Come on man you people are bullshitting the exam as if it is a school exam.. Bottomline: Achcham Yenbathu Madamayada. But do scare to watch this film.
Simbu has shown his top form.
Simbu is at his best form in this movie. I think he can be called Super Star of 21st century in Kollywood. AR Rahman music was super fantastic. the screen dialogue was very good it was totally new dialogues. the movie was combination of Action, Romance and Thrilling it was super awesome and also very exciting. this film is a true comeback for Simbu. I hope this movie will make a blockbuster. everyone in this film was playing their role fantastically. lastly The movie was very entertaining.
Excellent thrills and music run of the mill early 2000s story with classic Gautham touches
First of all, as a reviewer , i am from the Minnale generation and everyone knows what a huge hit that movies was back in 2001 which propelled gautham menon to the list of A list directors. Over the years Menon has went on to do multiple stories each with its own distinct plot but driven by his classic crime - love plots after the success of his second film "Khakka Khakka" while introducing new plot driven presentations for each subsequent movie. You find yourself in an action film complete with corrupt cops and cold-blooded killers. The action which is plot driven rather than stunt driven is intense enough, with a series of close call events betrayal and other action genre elements. In some levels the movie reminds one of Menon's "Khakka Khakka" and "Vinnai thandi varuvaya" movies. The female lead Manjima Mohan is surprisingly good for her debut performance with her Reema Sen like acting style and by far the best of all female leads in Menon's movies However the strongest aspect of the movie which is plot driven scenes does not come without flaws. At times logic takes a backseat with obviously glaring plot holes. The villains had always been at the forefront in all Gautham movies , however in this one they seem to lack the finesse of Pandiya character from Khakka Khakka or Amudhan from Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. However this can be justified as the villain is from north India and exhibits characteristics different from Tamil villains and this is not a full fledged crime themed movie like "Khakka Khakka". Daniel Balaji who played the main villain in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu plays a minor villain role. It will have been better if he had a full fledged role. The performance of Simbu, as usual the happy go lucky hero persona, at times seem to be inconsistent especially in the second half but the action plot will quickly distract the viewer from any fault finding.Unlike the director's earlier movies , the romance - crime integration flows in a straight plot rather than alternating between flashbacks as in his earlier movies. As usual the finesse of AR Rahman's music can be seen here both int he songs and background tracks and he has taken the gautham - menon combo to a new level while retaining the usual feel of their earlier musical collaboration. Although the film brings nothing new in terms of story other than the usual run of the mill stuff seen in other Tamil movies like "Arima Nambi or Thadayara Thakka , the simple plot driven execution and nuances of romance incorporated into the action scenes is somewhat better done than in other movies and carries the classic Gautham Menon touches. However one cant help having the nostalgic feeling and a story or plot that looks and feels like the early 2000s menon movie. Overall watchable for the thrills , music and plot.
