  A very well made film about war and determination, very impressive cast and the scenes of battle were staged nicely, the camera angles at times were a little off during some fight scenes, but an overall satisfying historical film for lovers of battle strategies.

  Korean film making does it so much better then Hollywood. The right amount of balance between tension, drama and war scenes. The scale of and interaction of the war scenes is where Asian film always outdoes Hollywood's efforts. The Graet Battle is a Great Korean War Film.

• Makes you appreciate your life

  First, let me say it made me appreciate my life because when I watch a historical piece like this when life was so hard and death was an open and every day occurrence, it opens you eyes and heart to how good we have it today. I want to say that the action and camera work were great; actors pull you in and there is also a bit of comedy. The movie really captures your full attention from the opening scene. Not only is this a historical piece with action, it is also filled with tragedy, love and betrayal and the heart of one man and leader against impossible odds. I for one watch movies to be entertained and this movie really entertained me and moved me. I also looked up this battle from a historical context and majority of it is true and accurate, from the mound, to the numbers, to siege time, and eventually Tang China withdrawing outside of some things added for extra spice. So all you Chinese reviewers need to calm down a bit. :-)

• Epic battle scenes!

  With stunning cinematography, awesome visuals and incredible photography during the epic battle scenes, what more could one ask for in a war movie? The battle scenes are quite spectacular. South Korea once again showcases an excellent war film. In-sung Jo is very good as Commander Yang Man-chun, a caring and likable protagonist, who's main concern is the well-being of his people. The rest of the cast is very good, as well, and there's sweet moments between some of the characters, and also a nicely set-up romance. This is a top-notch production.
