Arizona-shot slasher is a real time waste
CAMP 139 is another would-be waste-of-time slasher made on a micro budget and with no sense, feeling, or originality. This one was filmed in Arizona and plays out exactly the same as at least a hundred, if not hundreds, of others: a bunch of youths decide to head into the woods where they find themselves stalked by a madman. The whole of this film is shot in the daytime in woods which look far from frightening or even atmospheric. The unconvincing performances combine with the unlikeable characters to make the protagonists equal parts dull and unpleasant. The killer is seen so rarely that his presence feels like a cameo in his own movie. CAMP 139 is just a time waste, nothing more.
