  • Typical TV cop errors make a bad movie worse

If you're doing a movie about the military, get some help from someone with experience as to how military members act or work. Similarly, if you're doing a movie about cops, use an actual or retired cop to at least make what is shown plausible. Another reviewer wrote that whoever did this had no idea about actual police work, and I emphatically agree. Here are just a few from the first 10 minutes: Cops that are hired are not given a full uniform and then told they're being hired. Cops cannot drink in bars in uniform- or on duty. The detective assaulted the male subject in a non-physical incident. Witnesses are interviewed at the time of the incident, you don't wait until the next day when the bar is closing. Detectives do not conduct field training for uniformed officers. I knew this was going to be a low scoring movie within the first 10 minutes. Bad writing. Bad casting. Bad acting. We knew right away who the Lifetime Psycho (LP) was, and then in a subsequent scene who the Lifetime Heroine (LH) was. I'll add they could have cast a far more attractive actress for the role of the LP. She was supposed to be a siren- no police pun intended, but she looka-like-a-man. There is a comment about her being a 30-something, and the character was born in 1989, making her 27 as of 2016, so she looks old. The LH even though made to look plain was far prettier than the LP. The movie is filled with bad casting, bad acting, bad dialog (I'm a movie star, not a mattress star), bad editing, and of course two pages of character/factual errors and plot holes. I can't go into great detail since there is a 1K word limit here. Suffice it to say the LP meets a guy that needs a shave who is a police detective. She fakes a pregnancy and miscarriage (a huge plot hole). The LH, a rookie officer and friend of detective needsashave, is on to her pretty much from the start, but the LP games the system against her. The LP advances her plan using a young actor dude she enlists to gank her husband. The detective dude is such an incompetent fool that I was rooting for him to be ganked, but he survives. The LH lives up to her role and saves the day at the end. Along the way the LP's ex-boyfriend, photographer needsashave, who was giving the LH background info on the LP, is ganked when someone cuts his brake lines- an overused trope that in real life would not kill someone. Body count: 1. At the end the young actor dude comes to the detective's home and tries to gank him. They shoot each other, and the actor dude is ganked- although his body has disappeared when the police arrive a couple of minutes later. Yep, that's how good the continuity is here. Body count: 2. I got a chuckle out of them using a Crosman BB gun as the cop's gun. Add bad props to the "bad" list. Then there was the line "I'm a movie star, not a mattress star" after an audition for a Jim Bobs Mattress Emporium commercial. I'm not making up that name. With a female LP and a LH that is a cop, I was hoping for an epic chick fight at the end. Even that could not be pulled off. If the goal here was drama, it failed. It would have been better to make it tongue-in-cheek ala Police Squad! Real movie score: 1/10 (higher is better). Lifetime movie score: 2/10 (higher is stupider).

  • If looking would have made sense.

I have friends in law enforcement. I have never known one of my friends to be as trusting as the detective in this movie. The whole scenario couldn't have happened. Both sides of the story of both the blond and the "attacker" would have been taken. No doctor is ever shown to confirm Jessica's pregnancy. The detective would have investigated the Jessica character before dating her. Some kind of blood work is required in most states for a marriage license. I don't think the writers knew anything about law enforcement or procedures. I can't figure what was supposed to be "true" accept maybe a Three Stooges skit or something like that!! Poor Stefanie Estes was made to look less attractive than Summer. The whole thing may be worth a viewing on a rainy afternoon which is what is going on outside right now!! Other than that find something else to watch unless you want to see a very pretty actor named Summer!!

  • What was LMN thinking putting this on the air?

The only semi-good things about this were the original idea & the lead actresses' competent acting roles. The crazy female lead is pretty good casting, & she gives it all she has, but with bad writing it's not really savable. Bad everything else: writing, casting, acting, cinematography (how many CUs can there be of bad makeup?), directing, & the editing - wow - the editing is stellar in its AWFULNESS. Blackouts in the middle of scenes, weird cuts that make you think they've gone to commercial when they haven't & a choice of song at the end with slow mo that never ends... It's just so bad it might be fun to watch for a laugh. If these really are true events, it would be better served with a commitment to the comedic aspect or to the drama. Not both.

  • Just about worthless

Nothing is believable about this lame flick. The character Faith is the only one that is worth watching, and the whole production is close to completely useless.

  • Out of the comfort zone and on to Lifetime!

Basically, I love all things Bressack. And Lifetime. Combining the two made me squeal with glee! Based on a true story, Jessica is an ambitious, and narcissistic blonde diva who wants to be a megastar. She meets handsome policeman, Paul who caters to her every whim and puts her on the pedestal she created. Fellow cop, Faith (no surprise here...she maintains a huge crush on Paul as they've known each other since childhood) is immediately suspicious of Jessica and begins her own investigation. Similar to "To Die For" (also a true story about Pamela Smart), Jessica seduces a younger man to, well...help her out with her 'abusive' husband. Following the Lifetime rules of provocative drama with a whimsical note, this is a funny little film that proves love is blind. Deaf and dumb, too. Bressack stepped away from the usual grotesque cinema to craft a great plot of intrigue and seduction. And I was especially delighted to see his cameo as the commercial director, instructing Jessica and her new beau on their big screen debut. Looking forward to more of James work!
