The Strike (2016) Reviews
"THE STRIKE" Funny, Interesting & Fun all in One
The passion you see in the acting during this movie will keep your eyes and ears hooked to the TV from start to finish. I say from the start, Because of the opening scene where all three main characters make you believe you're watching the real movie by acting like "bad actors". During that scene you find yourself asking "what was the reason I wanted to watch this movie?". Until the lights turn on and they're in acting class. From that point on you want to know what's going to happen next. As I watched I found myself laughing at more than a few parts in the movie. From Erin's stand up routine, to Christopher Marquez's dress up's and back around to Guillermo Ivan's "throw in's" in the middle of acts all make you laugh. Christopher's pork costume really got me. Bronson Pinchot plays great role as well, If you have watched some of his older movies & shows from past years. You will notice some of the same body motions and facial expressions from then until now. He really balances out the movie, especially when he meets with Holly one on one to admit a few personal things to her, Along with the final scene of the movie where you will have to watch yourself to get the full affect. Overall I gave this movie an 8 out of 10 because it gives the three main characters still something to work towards to being a perfect 10 & Pinchot a nice applause back to the movie scene.
The Strike is Laugh out Loud!
This is a great rental to enjoy on a cold winters day...super fun with a great meaning! Erin Fogel was a highlight. I'm a New Yorker and so it was fun to see all the sights around the city. I especially enjoyed the way the movie weaved a lot of story lines together and wrapped it up at the end. Had a very poignant ending, which I won't spoil. Heartwarming characters that you rooted for even through all their mishaps. And I enjoyed the way it was shot, like you were part of the scene. I look forward to seeing these actors on their next adventures (fun to see pichot back on the screen). It's just a sweet and lighthearted film that packs a surprising punch of poignant. Highly recommend!
Very funny Film
The film is an excellent independent film with phenomenal actors. Erin Fogel and Guillermo Ivan really have put together a great film about the entertainment industry in New York City. The acting alone is amazing. Bronson Pinchot and Paul Calderon give fine performances as well. Without giving out too much the film portrays the comedic struggles that many entertainers go through for recognition. I saw this film earlier this year and it has done well on the festival circuit. You cannot help to fall in love with the lovely but misguided trio that make up the core of the film. I highly recommend this feel good comedy as a must see for everyone
Unshackle yourself from the illusion and surrender yourself to reality
Carlo Lombardi (Bronson Pinchot) is producing a film called "The Strike" involving the Mafia. Three roommates who imagine themselves as actors want to be in the production. Molly Mirovsky (Erin Fogel) runs a yoga class that Carlo attends. Alberto (Guillermo Iván) is from Cuba and works as a waiter. He likes to do improvisation on his written lines, which is generally bad. Richard (Christopher Márquez) has various jobs were he stands outside of restaurants dressed as an animal. He meets a homeless man (Paul Calderon) who claims he is the reincarnated soul of What Whitman. Richard listens to his life philosophy. The film is comedy with a very very long message of being yourself and not wearing a mask. It was certainly overdone as any quirky indie. Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity
Hysterical!
This is a quintessential New York Comedy! I laughed out loud at all the scheming and plotting to get noticed, something many of us New Yorkers know all about! Loved the yoga stuff too (yoga is funny!) Erin Fogel is very funny and warm in the lead and it was great to see Bronson Pinchot again! I always loved his work growing up and it's a welcome return. Really enjoyable and even thought-provoking with a touch of philosophy from a familiar-named mysterious character. And for anyone who grew up in New York or has adopted it as their home, it will be a lot of fun to spot some famous and favorite city spots. Very enjoyable and witty all around!
